Jonathon Cowan

President

Jonathon has been in the mortgage industry for over 30 years. He has participated in and held various board and committee positions in industry associations as well as various private and public companies. He co-founded Cambridge Mortgage Investment Corporation with Francis Peet, his longtime partner in the mortgage industry. Jonathon, along with the Cambridge team, have built and continue to grow a Canadian alternative mortgage lending industry leader.

Francis Peet

Vice President

Francis is a co-founder of Cambridge MIC and brings a wealth of knowledge and over 40 years of experience in the mortgage sector. His expertise runs from small residential mortgages to the larger commercial and private loan placements, and he’s regularly consulted by other mortgage industry professionals for his insight. With his good-natured attitude, Francis is adept at building relationships with investors and colleagues. He’s also known for his ability to put together the most complex deals and for his specialty knowledge of construction financing. 

Frank Tharakan

Chief Technology & Compliance Officer

Frank manages compliance, technology, certain reporting requirements and administrative verticals of the fund. His experience and expertise encompass monitoring existing mortgage investment systems, investor and client relations and implementing organization-wide regulatory changes. Prior to joining Cambridge MIC in January 2015, Frank completed his MBA from the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business and worked as a technology consultant for banking solutions at Accenture (USA).

Marra DeConto

Operations Manager

Marra has over 30 years’ experience in mortgage registration, administration, and maintenance. Working in a department that assists with portfolio monitoring, reporting, and maintenance, she coordinates Cambridge’s ongoing mortgage administration operations and investor transactions and assists in ongoing compliance requirements. Marra is an integral part of the operations team at Cambridge MIC.

Martina East

National Sales Manager

Martina brings to Cambridge MIC 20 years of mortgage industry experience, with the last ten years focused on business development. She has an extensive background in alternative lending with a proven ability to work with our broker partners in assessing deals and building relationships. Martina is known for bringing passion and enthusiasm to product education and marketing. She has received numerous industry accolades and recognitions, including CMP Top BDM in 2018 and Optimum Mortgage’s BDM of the year in 2016. Her diversified experience in the industry from both the sales and underwriting perspective allows her to provide her brokers with exceptional advice and service.

Trevor Cullen

Manager of Mortgage Underwriting

An expert mortgage underwriter and a leading assessor of mortgage risk, Trevor has been an integral member of the Cambridge MIC underwriting team for over 16 years.

Trevor has a proven track record of finding creative and common-sense solutions to lending in order to resolve and close complex deals. He is known for his quick turnaround and for going above and beyond on every deal to ensure that the experience of both the broker and their client exceeds industry standards.

Christopher Boswell

Underwriter

Chris is a graduate of Queen’s University and has been part of the Cambridge MIC team for over 16 years. Chris is an expert mortgage analyst and underwriter with experience that extends the gamut of the Canadian alternative mortgage lending space.

He is relied upon and delivers succinct reviews of mortgage applications and inquiries. He is an integral part of the underwriting team at Cambridge.

Randy Binstock

Business Development Manager

Randy brings with him more than 30 years of business development experience and mortgage expertise.  Focusing his attention in Ontario, brokers in his territories know they can always count on Randy for a fast response at any time of day.

Randy’s goal is for our broker partners to be successful, and he nurtures close relationships with his underwriting team to reach that goal. His outlook can be summed up by his personal motto: “Every day is a great day to talk mortgages at Cambridge Mic!”

Arielle Horne

Administrator – Client Care

Arielle’s role as a mortgage administrator encompasses dealing with existing clients, collecting payment, processing renewals, coordinating with mortgage brokers and lawyers, monitoring assets, and instructing new mortgages. She works closely with Cambridge MIC’s management team to ensure clients receive an exceptional experience from start to finish.

Ashley Peet

Controller

Ashley has recently joined the Cambridge MIC team. A CPA with eight years of experience working locally and internationally for a major accounting firm, Ashley brings comprehensive knowledge in operational controls, procedures, and reporting as a result of her extensive auditing background. She joins and strengthens an already strong administrative team at Cambridge MIC.

Navodya Senalankadhikara

Operations Assistant

Navodya is responsible for assisting with the organization and coordination of mortgage details and ensuring that accurate information is maintained internally. By facilitating smooth administrative workflows, Navodya plays a key role in enhancing the overall client experience and operational efficiency.

She has over four years of experience in client relations and was recognized for her exceptional customer service skills at CIBC before joining Cambridge MIC.
